Today, October 15, is Blog Action Day. Today bloggers around the world are uniting to put a single important issue on everyone’s mind—the environment. If each of us does our own small part, we will have a cleaner and healthier environment to live in.
Here’s a list of the top 10 ways I’ve helped Scrapbooks Alive go green:
- Replaced my desktop with a laptop.
- Set my screen saver to blank when not in use.
- Work with my lights off during the day and open my blinds for natural light.
- Use fluorescent lights when lights are needed.
- Turn on my ceiling fan and turn off the A/C.
- Use recycled paper.
- Recycle old ink catridges.
- Recyle my aluminum Coke cans. (That’s right. I’m an admitted Coke-a-holic. Who needs coffee when you can drink Coke!)
- Save my emails in appropriate folders rather than printing and filing them.
- Pay bills (ugggh!) online.

Scrapbooks Alive has been a dream of mine for several years. However at first, I didn’t know the first thing about starting an online business. In December 2005, I was researching the Internet trying to figure out where I should start. That’s when I stumbled upon Mom Masterminds—a business mentoring and coaching program for moms who run online businesses.
At first, I was a bit skeptical. (Okay, okay… I was a LOT skeptical!) How could a group of moms really know that much about Internet marketing? I mean REALLY. But since they had a FREE 9 day ecourse, I decided to give it a shot. I decided that I would go in there, see what it was all about, and get out at the end of day nine.
Once I got there, I was overwhelmed. My head was spinning. There was so much great information on affiliate marketing, SEO, web traffic, blogging, website design, and so much more. I was learning so much and meeting so many successful internet moms that I decided to pay for a month. After that month, I was hooked. A year later, I graduated and became a lifetime member for free!
I can honestly say that Scrapbooks Alive would not be in existence today if it weren’t for all the fabulous women at Mom Masterminds.
